Hello, I’m Branwyn Two-Moon of Clan Lightridge and these are the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for Year’s Turning, 2018 to 2019.
If you’re hearing this, congratulations: your aethercast receiver works and so does my transmitter!
By order of their Royal Majesties, the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor has been established as the official news aethercast of of Eastfjord Harbor and the Pinecrest Region. Whether you reside in the small farms east of Valleywatch Keep up on the rim, the Black Mountains to the North, the White Mountains to the South, the Pinecrest Valley itself, or the city of Eastfjord Harbor at the western end of the valley, this news aethercast is for you.
And if you happen to live somewhere else and can hear me, you’re welcome to listen too!
For over two hundred years, the valley and Eastfjord Harbor itself were a prize fought for in an ongoing war. When those battles stopped due to a greater threat to the east, the valley’s residents found their lives peaceful and set about establishing their own rules for life. It’s not quite been twenty years since the Kingdom of Gemrest, formed by the alliance and merging of two long-time foes that once warred over the harbor, appeared in the valley.
That the Gemrest royalty sent their emissaries with an offer to join the kingdom, rather than a declaration to annex the region, still causes confusion to this day. The details that caused the change in attitude of the two previous royal lines are unclear, but the only people who seem unhappy with it are nobles who profited from the constant squabbling.
The leaders of the Pinecrest region saw wisdom in joining a united kingdom, and that kingdom saw a clear benefit to controlling the only deep draft port on the eastern edge of the Great Inland Sea.
As open, clear, friendly, and quick communication had clearly served the residents of the valley so well, the king and queen declared that all regions shall have their own news aethercast to supplement the Royal Messengers. I’m honored that the those that reviewed the applicants from this region found my submission worthy and I promise to deliver everything you need to know to keep you safe and happy.
Beginning with the week of Gnome Resting, this aethercast will deliver its messages every seven days, with occasional special messages on holidays including Year’s Turning and Stars’ Aligning. Whether it’s a simple weather forecast provided by local Sylph casters, wildlife migration information from the Feralix and Dryad casters, or just general goings on such as town meetings, I’m here to get you the information you need to know.
The Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor are brought to you by Red Wombat Tea Company, purveyors of fine and otherwordly teas. Red Wombat: We Dig Tea.
Also brought to you by Royal Messengers: when even magic can’t reach, we will!
Wow, that’s a quick change on their slogan, and well done!
These have been the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for Year’s Turning, 2018 to 2019. Take care, and stay warm.
