Hello, I’m Branwyn Two-Moon of Clan Lightridge and these are the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for the week of Dryad Resting, 2019.
Kyelin Windshear and Ariette Walks-the-Dawnline are getting down to business with their new guild. A roster of nearly 50 names has been posted in the Fjord’s Tail Tavern, which itself has become the official headquarters of the newly-formed Dawnshear guild.
The members of Dawnshear are being put through their paces to learn teamwork in groups of four to six as the guild takes on assignments of escorting short run caravans, investigating reports of unruly wildlife, and similar in the region.
In the meantime, their headquarters is expanding a bit. Kyelin and Ariette worked out deals with businesses and homeowners near Fjord’s Tail Tavern to relocate at what I’m told are very favorable prices to the sellers.
Merchants are coming in to the harbor at record numbers for this time of year, primarily seeking to deliver pre-purchased goods to points to the northwest, but an increasing number are looking to sell here in town – and succeeding. The dockworkers and warehouses are still hiring, and paying well as they bring in unprecedented business and their employees are spending. The end result is a win for everyone.
Don’t worry that all the money is leaving the region: every guild involved in construction reports strong interest in new homes and remodeling homes. That said, they’re all holding on hiring until they can figure out where to put homes. Fortunately, there’s a town council meeting in just three weeks to address that. If you haven’t yet gone to your district or region representatives with your opinions on the housing plans that were recently announced, please do so. And if you want info on them, head to town hall.
The Druid’s Circle Guild reports that they received a letter that Revna and her companions did in fact reach the small village near the Shrine of Water on the third day of Gnome Fading. By now, Revna should have undergone the trials of Undine, and we eagerly await the results.
No word from the Shrine Watchers’ League on if their seekers have found anything, or if they’ve received any useful tips in their quest to locate the Shrine of Magic. They may need Wisp’s own luck to find its shrine.
The Lightkeepers’ Guild won’t be able to help them, but the vessels that sail in and out of Eastfjord Harbor are in no danger of losing their five guiding lights. The guild has opted to take a new approach, proposed by one of their eleven new members. Three Lightkeepers will be assigned to each lighthouse with a rotating schedule that results in one person on duty, one on light and backup duty, and one off-duty for each lighthouse at all times. The guild has already reached out to builders to expand housing at Fjord’s Bend, Ocean’s Gate, and Ocean’s Watch. As a result of the request for expansion at the first two locations, the council is looking for a few persons skilled in water magic with experience working with Gnome-casters to help with efforts in ensuring the waterproofing of new residences so close to the ocean itself.
I’m told the Messenger’s Guild was ecstatic to deliver messages to the new Lightkeepers, and relieved as they’ve been hard pressed to keep up with demand because runs to most of the lighthouses take a far amount of time. They’ve asked me to let people know they’re looking to hire more messengers in the coming weeks and interested persons, whether they wish to run or ride, should visit their headquarters in the west square.
If you want to get out and apply to jobs or guilds, or get some shopping in, the Sylph-casters say do it early this week. A heavy snowstorm is expected to roll in on the third or fourth day, with clouds and cold temperatures sticking around after to help the snow linger – though this forecast only applies to the valley itself. If you’re up by Valleywatch Keep or on the rim, expect less snow – the storm is apparently coming in low from the west and will dump nearly everything it has as it is forced up and out of the valley. If you’ve noticed the calls for Salamando-casters in the inns, taverns, and town hall this week – now you know why.
