Hello, I’m Branwyn Two-Moon of Clan Lightridge, and these are the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for the week of Undine Waxing, 2019.
The rivers, streams, and creeks of the region are rising with snowmelt nearly as fast as the temperature, as was expected. To the Gnome, Undine, and Dryad casters working hard to keep people safe in the mountains and foothills: thank you and be warned that the weather across the valley is going to be even warmer next week, with a couple of days as warm as early summer, while we’ll have others pretending towards early winter.
The Shrinewatchers’ League can’t pretend their ritual to determine the future location of the Shrine of Magic went well though, and that’s partly on me.
You see, some people have apparently decided my broadcasts need to stop and broke into the broadcast studio the night of the full moon. I don’t think they expected me to be there, and they certainly weren’t prepared for my ability to defend myself and the studio against them. Regrettably, the Wisp magic I used in my defensive efforts significantly altered the process of the ritual.
The Grand Council has already arranged increased security as a result of the attacks, and told me I don’t have to turn the would-be saboteurs back to their normal selves – they can just wait for the magic to fade.
I’m told that the leadership of the Dawnshear Guild has opted to use this failed attack as an example to their more aggressively-minded members about the dangers of poor preparation. There have been a few inquiries about why the guild has not yet started in on their stated purpose of clearing the houndlings from Valleywatch Keep, and we now have the basis of an answer: the leaders seem to feel additional research and experience are needed.
Along the topics of experience and magical surges, those in town should expect to feel the resonance of a long-range Shade gate tomorrow. A communication from the capitol has informed the council that an ambassador is being sent to meet with the Cordelian ambassador, though one wonders why if the need for communication has been deemed urgent enough to warrant gating the ambassador in, there was such a delay in doing so.
Speaking of delays, the delays on beginning construction of the Skywatch Academy of Blades on the western edge of Wickerby Pond have come to an end. For those unaware, Annaliese Skywatch had opted to delay construction so that the various casters and builders she had hired would be able to make arrangements for the additional team members that would be needed to support the construction of Ocean’s Watch and Petrosk. Thanks to the double-sized caravan due in in two weeks, it is expected that the academy will still be complete on time for its fall opening.
The Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor are brought to you by Red Wombat Tea Company, purveyors of fine and otherworldly teas. Red Wombat: We Dig Tea.
Also brought to you by the Valleywatch Keep Farming Alliance: After a year without any significant houndling raids, the farms and villages around the keep need more help in keeping the region fed. We’ll be in town the week of Undine Waning to conduct interviews.
These have been the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for the week of Undine Waxing, 2019. Take care, and stay dry.
