Episode 20 – Week of Aura Resting, 2019

Hello, I’m Branwyn Two-Moon of Clan Lightridge, and these are the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for the week of Aura Resting, 2019.

It is a sad thing that I must deliver dark news to open the month of the spirit of light, but truth cares not for timing.

Some force is moving against the this valley and its people.  Every guard and messenger agency that operates within the Pinecrest region has reported that that persons known to execute their duties in trios or smaller groups have gone missing – failing to arrive to their destinations when expected – but only those working the fringes of the region.

Guilds and adventuring groups have stepped up to aid in the search for those missing and the cause of their absence, but in the meantime both guard and messenger now travel in squads of five, frequently mixed squads. Persons attuned to the outermost Anchorstones of the region are being called upon to work with the Grand Council and Eastfjord Harbor Town Hall to establish a schedule for regular check-ins with as many outlying locales as possible.

There are no reports of trouble from anyone currently on an Anchorstone Walk. It is likely that the groups are too large for whatever force is threatening us to be willing to approach them.

Yet one wonders if the this is the same force caused the deaths of ten Feralix virl-hunters a few weeks ago.  There is no evidence to support this theory at this time, but the possibility is being investigated as this kind of violence is not normal here.

Strangely, in the wake of such external violence, internal violence is fading. While muggings and similar have never been very common, reports of violent crimes are down significantly.  There are even rumors of known thieves actively dissuading others from thievery.

What does it say when those that walk in shadow edge towards the light for fear of what they cannot see?

The forecast for next week calls for mostly-clear and bright days with  brief early morning or evening showers. This should make travel for trade caravans and the Valleywatch Keep Farming Alliance quite reasonable… at least next week.

Last in the news this week is a reminder from… just about every leadership along the valley rim… that if you are going to paraglide off the valley rim, please take friends with you who will be where you land… and know something about where you’re going to land.

Well, that lends some truth to rumors I encountered during the week.

The Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor are brought to you by Red Wombat Tea Company, purveyors of fine and otherworldly tea. Red Wombat: We Dig Tea.
