Hello, I’m Branwyn Two-Moon of Clan Lightridge and these are the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for the week of Sylph Waking, 2019.
The cold snap is over, but it served as a good reminder of winter’s approach. With wind in the forecast this week and colder days in our not-to-distant future, clothiers have all sorts of jackets, hats, shoes and boots prominently displayed in shop windows.
Fortunately for Irzuka Sharesjoy and her business partner, dracog puppies huddle together for warmth. Ernest and Emily are parents to a dozen strong puppies. Six are already reserved for Irzuka and her partner and I’ve been informed they won’t be taking offers for the others until they’re two months old. – basically at Year’s Turning.
Maybe if I’m lucky, I’ll be able to see them this time.
I’d also like to see the houndlings, who as it turns out were behind the improved crops around Valleywatch Keep. They’ve been tending the earth beneath the crops, mixing fertilizers they are familiar with into the ground to strengthen the plants in the fields. Score one for my intuition!
Our trio of Anchorstone-forging Champions are nearing the end of their journey, having recently checked in Starsholm, the formal gathering grounds of the White Mountain Clan of Feralix. The trio has established a number of Anchorstones not only in various towns and villages along the foothills, but also in most-frequently used informal gathering places throughout the mountains.
Expect lots of guard movement over the next three weeks. Both the Pinecrest Guard and Royal Guard are rotating duty stations before the winter, so there are likely to be new faces at home and the occasional familiar face abroad. Specific movements are staggered to maintain appropriate coverage, so don’t worry about things becoming unsafe anywhere – if anything, the roads will be safer than normal.
Last in the news this week is a request from me: please stop hanging out outside the studio and my home. I am fully aware that no one else who has attempted the Trials of Magic after me have succeeded, though attempts have resulted in seven new Champions – and strangely, one for each of the other Mana Spirits. What little I consider appropriate to share has been provided for public consumption and I have no desire to answer questions such as “What does it feel like to be the first Champion of Wisp in centuries?”. I lack words to describe it or a similar experience to compare it to. I’m honored and humbled and I will do my best to carry the mantle worthily.
