Episode 41 – Week of Sylph Howling, 2019

Hello, I’m Branwyn Two-Moon of Clan Lightridge and these are the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for the week of Sylph Howling, 2019.

My apologies for no broadcast last week.  Several curious and very excited Wisp spirits appeared in my studio as I brought the gear online and disrupted the mana flow something fierce. Luna herself had to come calm them down, and I’m pretty sure she had a conversation with them about not appearing without warning around magic-bound technology, as what I think is the same group appeared an hour ago, reined their energy in, and are hovering with quiet excitement behind me.

Seriously, they’re vibrating like children around Year’s Turning.

So were Alyra Windvale and Annaliese Skywatch the first day of this week. Their wedding was as beautiful as they are, and the festival around the grand opening of the Skywatch Academy of Blades was no small spectacle either.  The Cordellian Ambassador Ilya arrived, as did some notable nobles, and a letter from Irzuka Sharesjoy informing the couple that one of the Dracog puppies is theirs as a wedding gift, should they desire it.

Though the most unexpected gift came in the form of unexpected guests: houndlings. A group of thirty houndlings approached cautiously, their travels from the eastern rim having been noted, followed, and reported on. They’d made no secret of their journey, no effort to hide, and there was a general hope that  their packs represented trade goods – and in a way, they did.

The houndlings brought with them food stuffs, tools to prepare them with, and what I can only describe as ceremonial clothing. Oh, and instruments.  They performed a ritual dance and explained it was to honor new beginnings, new lives, and the path to a new future. They shared what they brought and what we had was shared in return.

Their common was… excellent, so long as they were in a group of at least ten.  And reasonable when they were in groups of five.

As they left, they made it clear they would be seen again, in a more formal fashion, and soon.

I know I’m not the only person who is curious as to what that meeting will be like, and Ilya has already indicated she’d like to be there when the meeting happens.

And on that note, I think we’ve wrapped up every expected major news story until Year’s Turning, so let’s find out what’s in store for us together, shall we?
