Hello, I’m Branwyn Two-Moon of Clan Lightridge, and these are the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for the week of Sylph Waning, 2019.
So, if you remember last week I made a statement that we were out of big expected news stories until Year’s Turning? Yeah, I’ve already got a story for next summer.
The King and Queen are coming to visit.
Yes, our King and Queen.
Their royal majesties, King Andarin Whitethorne and Queen Mekanni Bright Wall, have sent word by Royal Messenger that they will be visiting Pinecrest for the month of Wisp next year, including a plan to spend a full week in Eastfjord Harbor itself.
To the best of anyone’s knowledge, this will make them the first King and Queen to ever set foot in the valley. Indeed, their desire to see and meet the peoples of the lands they rule is the reason for their visit, for while their parents have visited all parts of the kingdoms that became Gemrest, none of their royal ancestors are known to have visited the valley… something to do with it rarely remaining part of either country for more than thirty years.
Once the timeline of the visit and other such details are announced, residents should expect messengers from many nobles, merchants, and similar requesting to rent their homes. As no nobles maintain any property here, and we have no inns dedicated to catering to nobles within the valley, they will seek to rent properties that reflect their prestige.
Maybe some of the residences in the reclaimed Vomba mining towns will suit our guests? The Feralix clans report a total of five such towns should be ready for inhabitants within two weeks – three to the south and two to the north. Persons interested in relocating to those towns should contact representatives of those clans in their area.
The end of next week should see the return of our Anchorstone-forging trio of Champions – who have requested to meet me for dinner one night. Champions are rare and the opportunity to meet three others at once without being at a shrine linked to any of them is almost unheard of.
I am not used to cooking for others… I am going to need to figure something out.
Last news before we hit our sponsors this week is a reminder from the East Valley Trekkers: it is usually colder on the rim than in the valley and colder in the mountains than on the rim. While no rain, ice, or snow is expected next week, today is warmer than any day is likely to be next week. The cold season will drive virl to explore a larger range in search of food, so be careful!
