Episode 44 – Week of Shade Resting, 2019

Hello, I’m Branwyn Two-Moon of Clan Lightridge and these are the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for the week of Shade Resting, 2019.

The final month of the year brings us cooler temps, stronger winds, and hyperactive children – and young at heart – eagerly anticipating Year’s Turning.

Before we get into announcements regarding Year’s Turning, we have news and weather. Let’s start with the news.

Back towards the beginning of the year, the Hisenwatch merchant caravan was sidetracked on its first journey to Eastfjord Harbor by what was eventually determined to be misused magic. Bryce Wayfinder and his research team returned to town earlier this week with more information.  They’d been working with the Royal Guards and other resources to try to determine who enacted the spells that set the caravan off course.

Listeners, the trail leads back to the former Duke and Duchess Ionwa. While the king and queen have taken action based on the evidence presented to them, there is still a public trial forthcoming and I cannot imagine this information will aid the accused.

If you’re traveling through the region midweek, you’ll want aid in staying warm and keeping your feet dry. Plantigrade persons can expect ankle deep snow by the end of the third day, and the snow will be threatening the ankles of digitigrades by the end of the fourth – and that’s just for the valley.  The rim will be similar, with snowfall increasing towards the mountains.

Ok, that transition was horrible, so let’s just move to announcements shall we?

Runners are being dispatched to inns, taverns, and town halls throughout Pinecrest to post notices: not only are applications being accepted for stalls in Petrosk for Year’s Turning celebrations, but so are applications for workers for prep, operation, support, and cleanup. Your deadline is in three weeks.

New this year, Rico’s Roastery and Gneech’s House of Tea are sponsoring a contest exclusively for amateurs. In fact, they’re sponsoring two. One contest will just hot cocoa recipes, with the other being focused on hot cider.  Winners of both contests will receive a cash prize and the option to sell their recipes for future use by the two businesses. While there’s never a lack of warm drinks at Year’s Turning, it would seem we’re going to have more variety than ever.  Details about the contests are being carried by messengers and available in the obvious businesses.

The Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor are brought to you by Red Wombat Tea Company, purveyors of fine and otherworldly teas. Red Wombat: We Dig Tea.

Also brought to you by the Association of Dockworkers Guilds: we’ll be hiring soon.

These have been the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for the week of Shade Resting, 2019. Take care, and mind the breeze.
