Episode 46 – Week of Shade Waxing, 2019

Hello, I’m Branwyn Two-Moon of Clan Lightridge and these are the Ersatz Echoes of Eastfjord Harbor for the week of Shade Waxing, 2019.

Expect a cold, snow-free week next week, and windy to boot.  Yes, that is the forecast for all of Pinecrest. The specific degree of cold doesn’t really matter given the expected winds, according to Sylph-casters. I encourage people with thin winter coats to bundle up, and people with thick ones to at least wear a light jacket designed to break the wind.

Kurst Ice-Forged and his crew have headed north to the Black Mountains to investigate reports of unusually aggressive wildlife near farming towns in the eastern foothills.  Details are lacking as to what kind of wildlife, with attacks coming in the dark, or with the sun behind the attackers. Kurst has promised to keep me updated as the situation allows.

The Dawnshear Guild has made contact with the houndling tribe, or possibly tribes, in the White Mountains to the south.  Reports of the interactions range from hesitantly peaceful to uncharacteristically aggressive. When conflict arises, the houndlings are using their traditional hit-and-run packs that make it difficult to get a clear look at tribal markings.  All reports indicate wounded on both sides, but no fatalities.

The Valleywatch Keep-based houndling tribe has requested, in writing, a formal meeting between their leadership and the Pinecrest Grand Council. No specific date is set, but the request is for the month of Gnome.  No word yet on a location or what the official response will be, but no one I’ve talked with can see any reason for the council to decline.

For those curious, the marking of the friendly tribe is a green, castle-like, leaf on a field of gray.  The houndlings of Valleywatch Keep tend to wear this as on an armband, or occasionally a headband.

The region is still seeing a steady influx of hopeful Champions of Wisp, though as of yet I remain the only one. There is still a noticeable increase in the number other Champions, however.

With deadlines fast approaching for the Year’s Turning celebration, and hiring beginning for the dockworkers’ guilds, it’s a busy week throughout the region, but for a pleasant change, it’s the kind of busy that’s been planned for.
